Say My Name | A Film Worth Viewing

Unfortunately, I was not able to take part in SXSW, this year in Austin, TX, but sho' nuff a lot was a buzzin' round them parts. And part of that buzz was this documentary Say My Name that was featured there. It is a film about "women turning adversity into art," which I think is the greatest source of inspiration.

Feelin' like a Million Bucks!

Yes I know....the headline of this post 'should' be "Long overdue". I saw this movie a little while ago. Enjoyed the hell out of it.....but never told you to go see it (I know, how could I?). I'm a busy man....besides, by time I get a chance to write a post about something fun I just did, Im already doing something else fun. Im too busy having fun guys.




Anyway, This movie is great. The child actors?....Amazing. Hands down these children have put forth the best performance I've seen in a long time.

Men....Black men. This is your chance, yet again, to prove to that woman of yours, she is worth more than a trip to Linden Multiplex, Jamaica ave, Magic Johnson, or Court Street Theatre.
Take her to the BAM, BAM rose cinemas to be exact...or if you rather manhattan, take her to the Angelika. Google it.

La science des rêves (The Science of Sleep)

Sometimes I wake up from a dream, and it was so nostalogic that I just wanted to write down every second of REM that I could. But usually as soon as I find a pen and paper the imaginatory thoughts dribble out of my consciousness like a leaky cup.

Well it seems as though all of the REM goodness has funneled itsel into this french film, The Science of Sleep. I am a BIG FAN of French films, espcially the ones that curse in french and then write the words out in English in the bottom of the screen captions.

I just watched this film today, and my mind is blown by its awesomeness. It is like the inversion of dream and reality in art form. So yeah here is the trailer:



I mean the film is in French, but there is an English version avaliable, and it came out in 2006. The use of cardboard, water, and felt (with obvious stitches), all make the film become that much more real. As if the paper mache 3-D is more realistic than life itself.
