Welcome to the Circus!!!

Presenting....THE RINGMASTERS!!!
(This aint no freak show. This is my childhood!)

Remember that post I made last year about Flex 'n' Brooklyn? Well yup, we done came up. Apparently Randy Jackson (from American Idol) has his own show (Americas Best Dance Crew) and some of the cats I came up wit on the dancing scene are in it; and they are doing their thing!
*Kudos Kudos*
Lil Mama apparently is one of the judges, and is referred to as the Paula Abdul of the panel. Rightfully so, because Lil Mama damn near caught a nervous break down after their performance. (Side note: Lil Mama? Really now? Can we speak proper English? Your on National T.V. ....get it together) But, I mean, I think everybody from Brooklyn that grew up flexin' would be proud.
Peep game:

...but wait! Theres more!

There you have it folks.....The Ring
Masters

Real HIP HOP

Spit That never ceases to amaze me. In addition to the massive amounts of raw talent and magical phrases crafted into poems singing melodies to my soul, the musical soundtrack played by none other than MIKE of Yume Loft truly set the mood for that night. Upon further inquiry Mike educated me about J.Period,
J.Period’s work has earned countless awards: 2 consecutive MTV “Top 5 DJ” awards, 2X “Mixtape DJ of the Year” awards, 3X “Best Mixtape of the Year” awards, to name a few.
I was at Spit That just vibing to a mix from the Isley Brothers

all the way to the hallowed Lauryn Hill.

J. Period leaves no Grammy winning artist un-remixed. His mixes in some ways melts all the talent and make one big ass pot of good music gumbo.

In addition to his mixtapes that have received countless awards and recognition, he also has an Internet radio station, Scion Radio 17. It is a nice change from the boring frequencies bull 'ish called "Radio Censored" music that you would be held to suffer with. Click here to enjoy. This month he is featuring Blu & Exile. Check his myspace for selected music.

Karaoke!

I have never gone to a dimly lit bar, filled with drunken American Why?-dols, and attempted to sing my Mint Condition love songs to a un-ethused crowd. But if Karaoke were ANYTHING like this here....Huh! I def would give it a try!

The song is by a group called Metronomy. This is their new single, A Thing For Me. Underpinned by perfectly arranged guitar chords, drum machines and general electric trickery, I think I am beginning to foster a new appreciation for the art known as- KA-RA-OKE!!

Can I Have Some Chicken With That???

One thing I love about art and creativity is that it has no boundaries. No limits. No barriers.
For instance, Doug Savage, states that he retains his sanity by drawing chickens on sticky notes. Yes folks, something you probably do at your office bored at work, or at school when not listening to the teacher, he has successfully made a living out of.

And honestly, these are some funny ass chicks. Has me thinking twice about getting that chicken ceasar salad, I start feeling bad for the little suckers. Peep more of his sticky notes, and be sure to check www.savagechickens.com for more sticky fun!!

Art. It is all about the creativity, and sometimes the process is even more artistic than the product itself. Willard Wigan actually creates art in the eye of a needle. Yessir!!! The eye of a needle that your senile mom has trouble threading when she is trying to fix that broken button.

Thanks Trees for Breakfast for the great video

Don't Forget That Spit That is at Yume Loft

Prom Queensss

"I loved her fancy underwear, I sit behind her every year,"
"Waiting for the chance to get to tell her I'm the one she should be with."

I guess that the Hip-Hop Queen Weezy-F Lady, has really tried to "re-invent" himself with this Prom Queen track that he dropped. This song is the lead cut off of his rock LP Rebirth (due April 7). Click the link to listen to it here.

I guess somebody didn't enjoy their high school memories, but it's a little late to lash out at her now, don't ya think???

"She had it all figured out/ She left me with a broken heart,"
"F---ed around and turned me down/ 'Cause she didn't think I could play the part/ Now the prom queen, the prom queen is crying, sitting outside of my door/ You never know how everything could turn around."

But may I remind you who started this movement, James Spooner, and the rest of the Afro-Punk Rockers who have been doing this since before Weezy got his lip ring....

Uncle Majic

I know some of you have been up past the hours of 1 AM in the morning, you have fallen pray to witnessing the Hip Hip Magician commercial. If you haven't click here to succumb to his magicalness. I too have been tempted to hire him for my next birthday festivities, but when you start pimping your children, I mean that is when you have taken it a half-step to far. Peep this commercial from Uncle Majic's daughter on Kyte.tv

I mean one minute he with the Simmons' kiddies at Baby Phat Farms R' Us, then next thing you know he posted up next to Wendy Williams on Datzwhatzup.net and the honey dips. In the same photo album though???
Hehe.. He sure is magic, I guess, but please sir don't tie your child to the same fate. And to further add YOU are NOT my favorite Uncle, my Uncle Albert gives me $$ on my birthday not magic tricks.

MLtheK Jr.

And NO...sadly i am not speaking of the late great Martin Luther, but rather...I am ashamed to say that the aforementioned title refers to none other than the self-proclaimed "Louis Vuitton Don."

I mean really, 'Ye, I feel as though you get a personal satisfaction from presenting yourself in such a manner that degrades your street credibility by several degrees every time you make an appearance. Without fail, you never cease to amaze me.

Honestly, if you really were the "Don" then you would not have to Vlog about it. Really you "have so much to stunt about" it baffles you, people with $$ out the ass, have no need to flaunt. My mom always told me, if you can count all your money, then you have no real money.

So, 'Ye, SMH at you, for the making this video reminds of a teenage Myspace picture featuring all your worldly possessions, in video form. Its sad. That is all.

Back In The Studio!

Well Red the G-Funk Hobo, is back in the studio, I honestly can't wait for his album. I don't know what he has in his hands that is so pertinent for him to do his thang thang. Hmmm... a 'lil sus' But I'll keep you posted.

The Platinum Pied Pipers also have been in the studio too, because they have released The Abundance Mixtape, in anticipation of their album Abundance that was released on Inauguration Day, Jan 20th.

Waajeed put together an official mixtape containing exclusive remixes, blends by OKP's own DJ Topspin, plus previously unreleased tracks from both Triple P & Abundance.

If you are not familiar with Triple P, or PPP, they are a Detroit-based hip hop and R&B group composed of producer Waajeed (Robert O'Bryant), and multi-instrumentalist Saadiq (Darnell Bolden). Their last/debut album Triple P album was produced by none other than Jay Dee.

Click the picture for the mixtape.

Personally, I am really vibing with Angel & Shotgun, tracks 2 and 3, respectively. Hot 'ish.

As Theophilus London, channels The Smiths with This Charming Mixtape, I say indulge with me into this wonderful music. Let's go shall we...

Post Racial America!

In light of the arousing and enlightening conversation that took place at Spit That last night (which was amazing I must say!!) this video from the Devil himself, Fox News, I think quantifies for us and makes tangible the actual America that we are living in.

I think that what an artist believes or portays within their sphere of influence is up to that artist. Regardless of who we are, we are all individuals and entitled to our opinions, and sadly in this society some opinions get more attention than others. I will just quote from Jay-Z's x Coldplay "Lost" remix on this one....

With the same sword they knight you, they gon' good night you with
Sh-t, that's only half if they like you
That ain't even the half what they might do
Don't believe me, ask Michael
See Martin, see Malcolm
See Biggie, see Pac, see success and its outcome
See Jesus, see Judas
See Caesar, see Brutus, see success is like suicide
Suicide, it's a suicide
If you succeed, prepare to be crucified
Media meddles, niggaz sue you, you settle
Every step you take, they remind you you're ghetto
So it's tough being Bobby Brown
To be Bobby then, you have to be Bobby now
And the question is, "Is to have had and lost
Better than not having at all?"
Because I'm...

Should Jay-Z and Young Jeezy have used their words more wisely knowing that every word they say is subject to scrutiny, or should they be allowed to voice their opinion, as they are citizens too??

Here is a link to Bill O' Reilly's take on this situation, thanks to my homegirl over at FacetGirl Blog. Let the discussion begin.

Oh! and do check FacetGirl Blog, wondrous wonders are there for you to discover, especially my feature in the Nail Craze-Second Phase post. Yeahhsss!

Also tonight RIPMC will be performing LIVE with Ainsley Burrows, TONIGHT! Come Thru.

Heartless!!!

How could 'Ye be so Heartless, with that throwback "hair-do" at the MTV Youth Ball?!?! I felt like his hair was doing more performing that he was...

Who could possibly warrant that as a decent hairstyle? Honestly, if I were 'Ye, I would have ducked behind that "Boulder Shoulder" back up singer, and prayed that nobody peeped my Alfonso Ribero reminiscent hairstyle.
Kanye is from Chicago and all, but I think he was ashamed, poor thing, because on his blog he posted this picture that magically makes light the situation, by hiding the mullet playground in the back of his head. He better thank the lucky stars that Angel from Concreteloop attempted to salvage his career. I mean he passed up the opportunity to amaze us with this other picture that Angel took...
Coincidence, that he did not pick the above picture, I think NOT! What are your thoughts???

On another note, I can't put a brother down, well at least not too much. We all got to lift each other up, especially since we are trying to instill change. So I must say congratulations Kanye on all your successes, and for being able to perform for the President, and what not. Also, thanks Miss Info blog, for revealing the truth, behind this audacity!

What gives you hope?

The Black House!

So we agree that this was the blackest inauguration that America has ever witnessed right? Right. I mean, Aretha made me feel like I was sitting in church service during 'special music'; shaky notes and all. Like, did you hear the choir?

And I mean how could we forget the benediction, as we see, RIP isn't the only MC. Reverend Joseph Lowery was up there droppin' rhymes, spittin' that piff!

Jay Z (who was also in the building) is not seein my man Rev Low' on the lyrical tip.
(roll the tape...)

Let the church say Amen.

Now, Can we talk about Michelle Obama. Maaan Listen, I'll have her glazed on a platter wit a side a biscuits please (*RIP wipes his mouth*). Mess around, bend her over on the kitchen counte.... sorry I be gettin lost in the moment sometimes. Her dress, yes, her dress.... Amazing. It was very elegant, Royal even. Presidential Chic with a subtle hint of Kente Cloth. I peeps game. Anyway, Michelle kinda make a black man feel like doin somethin wit his life! I mean look at Barak, he married her and now he the President!

....now, what better way to end a black affair than with that good ole faithful "Two Step"!
A lil' Ballroom Boogaloo!

what else can be said after such festivities you ask?...Oh, I know!...infact, how could I forget....

Good Bye!

(I dont usually do this but.....LOL!)

Our 44th President

Words cannot express the amount of elation that fills all of our hearts at this moment, so I feel that this video will suffice.

On another note, all I have to say is where the flip did they find that poem lady??? smh.

JULIAN WOLKENSTEIN

The horses called, and said they said their are reclaiming what is rightfully theirs.

I guess on this Martin Luther King Jr. "birthday" celebration, everyone is reclaiming their rightful place in society, and the horses are doing taking their fair share of the pie.

We have to thank for this wonderfully ironic art the person of Julian Wolenstein, who is an Australian photographer. He works with clientele as common as Burker King to those as upscale as VOGUE Australia.
I guess that mix of humor and art is demonstrated in his photography. My favorite is "Yawning is Contagious."
Truely it is. "YAAWWWWNNNN." Peep the rest of his works in his virtual gallery.

And another little token that should claim its rightful place is this little sneak peek from the "This Charming Mixtape":

Aer OBAMA

In the light of the festivities this weekend, as the world awaits the 20th, and the fact that I wish I was in DC right now, this Daft Punk vs. Adam Freeland "Aer OBAMA" video is pacifying me for the moment. I think it is soo fitting for this wondrous occasion.

According to Kanye's blog, it includes "Kubrick toys, Bill McMullen, and Dalek not to mention various cameos by Barack Obama." I personally love how the Kubrick toys re-enact what a real Daft Punk concert is like. So realistic, yet so futuristic. With that being said, I am more than satisfied. Enjoy!

Spit That Returns!!

I know that every since the Ball dropped on NYE you all have been anticipating the returning of
SPIT THAT!
Well it is back! Come bring your art, bring your ears, bring that piece you've been working on, and BE HEARD. Here's a lil' suttin suttin I threw together...

Blogging/Lightening

My school bus yellow nail polish favors flashes of lightening as they tap synchronously on the keyboard. Writing combinations of "asdfjkl;" , and striking victims of the world wide webster dictionary. But lightening never strikes twice, and neither do my blog posts. They resemble the natural phenomenon, emulating flashes in time. Always resonating with a lasting thunder.

AAHH!! yeah that was my little thang thang, i know I ain't no poet (I'm Lightening, haha), I just write a summation of ideas I hope gel well together. So come through this week.

See you THURSDAY, JANUARY 22nd.

ManWomanBoogie

Q-Tip has done it once again, creating a song about unity, and something positive for the community.

I love what this video stands for, I tried to pay attention to the lyrics, but kept getting distracted by all the young black female talent that he blessed us with. First and foremost, all of you who are familiar with the HBO's Def Poetry Jam veteran Shanelle Gabriel. Of course she has graced Writer's Block many a time, and she is ever present in this ManWoman Boogie, how appropriate :)

Also featured on this track is none other than Amanda Diva!!
I love her youtube channel Diva Speak TV, with her magnetic personality. Wonderful!!!

Be sure to peep their respective pages, and go cop Q-Tip's album, its def a great investement in the future of black music.

Thursday..Snowy Thursday

Oh how I abhor thee,
let me count the ways...

Okay, I lied....The ways-I will not count,
but rather I will create an outfit that will overshadow the snow covered cement.
And if you happen not to like my rendition of a Thursday outfit, maybe
this video from New York Magazine about the Louis Vuitton recent launch of its Stephen Sprouse collection will tickle your fancy...
In other news,
Today is nothing short of a celebration!
President Bush bids us farewell officially, and all the passengers on the US Airways flight survived.
Now I ain't a big fan of Ron Browz or nothing but...
"Pop CHAMPAGNE!"
Okay. I'm done.
Now I must atone for my sin, and sacrifice a pigeon for the use of that phrase.

You's A Bum

...And indeed, this dude is. Turns out a homeless dude was beatboxing behind the Heavyweight Production Gallery, and he is now a true life rags to riches story. I can't hate though dude has madd skills...

His name is Red, also known as the G-Funk Hobo. He was simply hanging out in the parking lot of the HVW8 gallery hoping to get a break, and I guess he got one. Here is his new release "Ghost Ride Yo' Hips," expected to drop this February, taped INSIDE of Heavyweight Gallery (HVW8). All I gotta say is YouTube, gonna end up putting T-Pain on the streets and Red on the TV.

I'm gonna go in the parking lot of FAO Schwartz and hope I get me a Barbie doll look-a-like or sumthin...SIKE! I wonder if they are paying him in food or money??? But I am feeling his madd thick varsity jacket. Anywho, Peace.

Real World My A**!!

I mean really though?!! Real World, uggh!!!
I was never really a fan. But honestly this wanna be Brooklyn set up is just ridiculous. MTV is probably conspiring with the devil while creating this hoax, they are probably not even in Brooklyn. . I bet you they are filming in New Jersey or sum sh*t.

Look at this clip...

C'mon, did you peep the "hood music" in the background! This is sooo not worth my time. I honestly think I would rather watch The Secretary of State address, when it simultaneously takes over all channels. Or perhaps wash my hair in cyanide. I rather watch public access television Psychic readers that submit myself to this tom-foolery!

I mean really if this is the cable company's idea of getting me to switch out my bunny ears before TV Doomsday February 17, 200never, they got whole 'nother thing coming. Oh No Ma'am!

I feel like they just picked some "randomite" actors and threw them all together and said "Make It Work,"'just like Tim Gunn.
Your not fooling anyone MTV, this is Real World: New Jersey and you KNOW IT!!

A Loss to the Community

Heart felt condolences go out to the families of Andre Saunders Jr., 32, and Lemarr Wilson, 21 who were killed yesterday in South Side, Jamaica Queens. Being a native from Queens and knowing people from South Jamaica Housing projects, this really hit home for me.

It is so sad to see young black men lost, and what is even sadder is that they were just trying to make a music and art, and they were hindered in the process. Just being in the wrong place, at the wrong time. SMH!

For those not familiar, a shooting occurred just after 4:30 p.m. at 160th Street and 109th Avenue, while a music video was being filmed in broad daylight on Sunday afternoon. The two men were killed in the crossfire, and another 17 year old young man was injured. We need to pay attention, and stop leeching our community of its black men. We have a new president, and we made a change in the White House, let's make a change in our houses now....

SANTO GOLD MONEY!!!!!

Upon completion of my listening experience I stumbled across an epiphany: "Old money is better than Gold because Old money lasts longer ....ok...my bad...I be goin in...(Translation: I think these remixes are better than the original songs).
You be the judge.
Scheme, what up!
